Penumbra worked with MarketOne Builders, Inc. to design and build a 160,000 sf tenant improvement within an existing, single-story structure within the former HP Campus in Roseville. Completed in 10 months, and under the GMP contracted budget, Penumbra’s new space includes approximately 72,000 sf of controlled environment room. The space also includes office space, break rooms and new restrooms, ADA upgrades and site improvements such as curtain wall entry and decorative concrete.

The Alameda-based company specializes in Neuro and vascular technology; designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing novel products which address challenging medical conditions in markets with significant unmet need.

Initially, their new Roseville location is expected to bring in 300 jobs during its first three years with more expected as the company grows.

Design-build team MarketOne Builders and DGA Architects transformed this prominent three-story downtown corner, which sat empty for a decade, into a highly visible landmark with its prominent 8th & K signage and modern design.

By overhauling the structure, Cassadyne owners Robert Rodriguez and Grietje Reuter, wanted to contribute to the booming K Street corridor, activated by DOCO and the Golden 1 Center. Previously owned by the City, the property struggled to gain an owner who could put the effort into its restoration since its previous occupant, American Savings Bank.

Inspired by art and revitalization while still keeping the 1960’s historical quality of the building, modern materials such as wood, glass, and steel were used in the design with a mid-century feel. The 22,000 square foot building includes 3,600 ground floor square feet for restaurant or retail use. A stunning rooftop patio was added which can be used by building tenants for special intimate events.

Cambria Solutions, Inc,. a fast-growing, national technology consulting firm, also owned by Robert Rodriguez, is the primary tenant and utilizes the second and third floors of the building. Cambria’s Innovation Lab on the second floor promotes creativity and collaboration amongst team members and clients. Additional spaces include soundproof phone “booths,” various meeting rooms, a café and kitchen area, and an open office workspace. Inc. Magazine has placed Cambria on its list of the nation’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies eight times, and its new location will further set it apart to attract the best employees to the area.

The building contributes to the renaissance of Sacramento’s urban sector. The prominent ‘8th and K’ signage serves as a landmark and the building’s access to light rail reduces the carbon footprint to the area. The redesigned building itself has received considerable support and accolades from local officials and has helped inspire other organizations such to move into downtown.

MarketOne Builders was selected by Raley’s to upgrade the mission critical power sources and distribution in their existing data center located at their headquarters building in West Sacramento. A new electrical service from PG&E as well as an upgrade to the existing main switchgear, UPS system, emergency generator and dedicated cooling to the facility was required while not impacting existing services and capabilities. The critical nature of this data center, which serves as the backbone for all of the Raley’s family of grocery stores, goes without mention. A momentary loss of communication between this data center and their retail locations can result in significant losses in their operation. MarketOne Builders worked with a hand selected set of subcontractors and consultants to coordinate and implement this significant successful upgrade.

MarketOne Builders was selected for this fast-paced, highly technical project by RagingWire’s management team due to our wealth of experience in building a strong team and our commitment to make this project a success. This state-of-the-art enterprise data center was the result of a design narrative prepared by Ellerbe-Beckett which provided the concept and design parameters for the project. It was then MarketOne Builders’ task to assemble a group of qualified and driven design/build subcontractors and design professionals to make the schematic a reality. Typical for these types of projects, work began in the field prior to construction documents being finalized in order to meet the time-sensitive schedule. MarketOne Builders’ project team was able to meet the completion requirements for RagingWire within days of our original anticipated schedule, further serving as a testament to our commitment to delivering projects on-time and within budget.
